  • The Arts Page: Offers a valuable and variegated study of artists and artistic techniques in a broad range of arts fields. Probes the history of the arts, as well as their technical advancements.  Special collections include Music, Art, Dance, Architecture, Theatre.
  • ESL Program: Material from a variety of authoritative news sources highlights aspects of American culture and daily life important to English language learners. Weekly Intermediate and Advanced level segments include audio clips by native speakers to aid with pronunciation, exercises to stimulate reading comprehension, and vocabulary, idioms, and phrasal verbs.
  • Spanish Program: Provides authentic material on Hispanic culture from our Spanish news weekly, Tiempos del Mundo. Includes The Basics, a complete beginner Spanish course, and weekly Intermediate and Advanced level submissions with audio clips by a native speaker to help students internalize rhythm and word stress. Exercises test reading comprehension. Also provides vocabulary, idioms, and phrasal verbs.
  • Teacher’s Corner: Teacher’s Corner features over 2,500 lesson plans that are immediately accessible and tailored to the teacher’s specific subject area and needs.
  • Other features include the Global Culture Studies page, which delivers updated demographic information and maps for 194 countries.  Thousands of culture articles about nations around the world help students gain a global perspective and appreciation for other cultures.  The World Gallery promotes an understanding of other nations and appreciation for the wonders of the world with more than 5,000 images from nations around the world.  The Special Presentations collection in the World Gallery proffers innovative multimedia presentations that highlight the New Seven Wonders of the World as well as illustrate the visual richness and cultural depth of major world centers.  The weekly Headlines in Review analyzes major news events from around the world.

Grade Levels

All contents of WorldandISchool.com are appropriate for middle and high school students.  For elementary schools, our resource has been used primarily by teachers, but there are some new additions suitable for students of grades 4 and above, including the World Gallery, ESL and Spanish programs, special collections on Worldwide Folktales, the Civil War and more.
